[SOLVED] Autofix Stuck, Image Size Not Valid

Postby IrishBandit » 28 Sep 2016, 23:13

I'm trying to install ALOT and the TPF/DDS Tools are just failing for no obvious reason. Autofix randomly gets stuck on textures, and when I try to install valid textures it throws up "image size is not valid" errors for all files.
I have tried ALOT and Ottemis' EDI mods.
http://www.nexusmods.com/masseffect3/mods/363/? , http://www.nexusmods.com/masseffect3/mods/208/?
This is for ME3.
I'm using ME3Explorer Stable version 2.0.0.0
TPF/DDS Tools 3.0
Windows 10 Home
English
Origin
I have tried complete reinstalls of both ME3 and ME3 explorer, making sure all the files are not read-only, making sure everything is on the same drive, downloading different versions of the mods.

There shouldn't be any need for autofix with ALOT, all textures are already in the correct format. No idea what this image size error means, it looks like something is wrong in your tree or in your game's files. Can you try vanilla your game and try again ?

Isn't there still a bug with autofix where it has issues with non-square textures under certain circumstances?

If there is it wouldn't apply to this issue though as the facial diff's are square, also:

4:12:43 PM: Installing mod: HMM_HED_PROAnderson_Face_Diff | 0/1 mods completed.
4:12:43 PM: Now replacing textures in texture: HMM_HED_PROAnderson_Face_Diff
4:12:43 PM: Unknown error with mod: HMM_HED_PROAnderson_Face_Diff, skipping.
4:12:43 PM: (Error: image sizes do not match, original is 2097152, new is 2796216)

This points to a filesize issue, not a format or dimention issue afaik.
I remember seeing this issue aaaages ago, but can't remember what caused it and/or if it was a toolset issue or a setup issue.

Usually a size issue like that is due to the toolset trying to install the wrong mip of a texture, but it shouldn't be able to do that.
I mean that the code for that hasn't changed in a long time, and isn't likely to just be a code thing.

I'd be guessing it's somehow a vanilla'ing issue.

I have discovered the source of the issue, I was previously running the trial of FastPictureViewer Codec Pack, mostly to see .psd thumbnails. It also includes a DDS codec which presumably mucks with ME3Explorer's capability to read the DDS files properly (It seemed to be reading the files as only having 1 MIP with it installed). After the trial expired and I uninstalled the codec pack texture installation returned to full functionality.

How strange...
I wonder how it was interfering.

Wow.

Call me skeptical. I think this is a coincidence.

I have GIMP's DDS plugin. A second DDS "plugin" that allows for their display in Windows Explorer. I also use XNView, which has its own ability to handle DDS files. And those are just the programs I can come up with off the top of my head. I likely have more. NVidia Texture Tools, Compressonator....

None of these have ever impacted ME3Explorer in any way. They shouldn't; they are separate programs. A third party program should have no affect on TPF Tool's ability to install textures.
