CR: ME1 TLK Files

Postby WarrantyVoider » 16 Feb 2014, 16:50

I found this tool in the web and extracted the source code. it takes a BioTlkFile as argument and extracts it into .csv files, biotlkfiles are found in tlk packages, you have to extract them with package editor for now. anyone wants to integrate that into me1ex? otherwise its on my long list of todos...

I'm up for that.

Been a while since I did some Mass Effect related coding. It'd be a pleasure!

I don't know how to use the tools very well, but please tell me I am mistaken.
1 - I can unpack a package (let's take the DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk.upk) from the dialog paste of ME1.
2 - I can convert the extracted tlk file (GlobalTlk_tlk.BioTlkFile) for csv file and after translating convert back to tlk.
3 - NOW THE PROBLEM: I CAN NOT put back this file in the upk file again.

Is ou Are there any way?
In options of the tlk_tool.exe there is also -r of replace. Will it be this one that make the trick?
Or can any teach me how to put it back in the binfile in the MEExplorer tool?, if possible of course...

yeah, we need a "replace with binary" function in me1 package editor, it is at least planned :P

@giftfish: the me3 tlk tool should work for me2 too

Use the UPK unpacker and repacker from my archive. Drag'n'Drop the DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk.upk over UPKunpack.exe, edit csv files and Drag'n'Drop the DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk folder over UPKrepack.exe.

Wow! These tools sounds like been dropped from the sky. All I'm looking for a long long time. I'll some tests and come back here to let you know if it does what's supposed to do and what I hope it does.

........................ Great! It worked.
I translated just some lines in the csv file and remounted all like the instructions.... and then in other paste unpack the upk and the convertion with the tlk_tool for csv to see if it have worked, though already had it coming, because the size was different. But it has worked all right.
Now, I'll do the test-in-game to see if everything runs all right. That will take a week or two to get the right moment to use the dlc in game and check. As soon as I get the results of it, I'll let you know... see ya' soon for now.
