OS architecture poll

Postby KFreon » 10 Sep 2015, 07:59

I like these poll things :D

I'm curious as to the architecture (bitness) (x86 i.e. 32 bit or x64 i.e. 64 bit) of peoples OS's.
For those who don't know how to find out, Right click on My Computer/This PC --> System. Or just search for System in Windows Vista+.

Poll

Thanks :D

Did you vote that way though?
Cool to know though.
Everyone should be on x64 these days.

Ah excellent :D
See, this image processing stuff takes up a lot of RAM, and traditionally the toolset has always had memory issues (regarding the texture side of things anyway)
I've been hoping for ages to have the toolset take more advantage of specific systems i.e. x64 has more RAM (generalization of course)
Soooo, my plan is to compile it as AnyCPU, which uses the correct architecture. The only change people would notice is that x64 users will probably never see the old OutOfMemory errors ever again.

The point of this poll though is to figure out how many weird edge cases there'd be with people who might not have much RAM/access to much RAM.
For example, a 4k (4096x4096) texture takes up around 73mb of RAM...imagine loading 100 of those.

I never saw this out of memory error. When installing/converting DDS', me3ex never went abpve 500Mo. It climbs, then goes back down to 150 and up again.
