Relay Animations

Postby KFreon » 13 Sep 2016, 11:37

I've been thinking about how to add more Mass Effect to my tools, so I decided to fiddle with adding animations as a progress background.
Point is, I've been playing with Blender and mass relays.

Results are fun.

Cycles
Plain old relay.
Relay with running light thing.
Travelling the relays.
Normandy Transit.
Harbinger Transit.

New Cycles
Travelling the relays in asteroid field - Arrival relay part looks pretty sweet to me. Just how I imagined it.
Normandy Relay - Proper Arrival Animation - Ring speed increases, core brightness increases.

The sample and bounce count are low so I can render them in a sensible timeframe.
That's why it's such poor quality graphics-wise. Animation-wise, I just suck.

Internal
Asteroid Field and nebula transit
Relay in Asteroid Field
Relay with Smokey Center
Cruising around Big Asteroids

These ones are a bit older. They all took days to render too, which is why I haven't tried it in Cycles yet.

I might look at adding texturing of some kind. Native bump map generation too. That'd look sweet.

EDIT: Apparently I can't embed the video's as videos :(

I'd love to be able to watch these to give some feedback, but none of the videos work for me.

It works for me, and it's HTML5, so any modern browser should be able to play it.

It doesn't say anything, I load the page and the page itself loads. Just the video remains white the whole time, or if I click the direct link, it remains black. Nothing changes after that. I'm on a macbook using safari that is fully updated, so it should work.

Must be an Apple problem... :P
Well that's a pain. They work for me too, but they are white initially for a bit, till they load.
Maybe that's the thing?

Maybe, I guess it could be that website is slow loading despite my internet connection which is quick. I did leave it for near 10 mins and it was still white. I'll leave it while I go to the shop and see if they load then.
