Tutorial: How to change the Origin game folder

Postby Alex » 04 May 2015, 17:00

I thought I could write a short tutorial on how to change Origin's game folder. I found that usefull when moving a modded game to your SSD, but don't want Origin to check the game again.

First you'll need to keep a copy of the vanilla verison. After you are done modding change the Origin's game folder to the new one you desire. You can find this option in Origin>Application Settings>Advanced

Then you have to close Origin and copy the vanilla version to the specified folder. When the copying is done start Origin again and click on the download button of your game. It will check the game files again, but it won't download anything since all the files are vanilla.
Afterwards you can delete the vanilla version and move the modded one to the new location.

Now you should be able to start the game again.

P.S.: Be sure to disable "Automatically keep my games up to date" found in Origin>Application Setting>General
